In praise of curiosity: Evelyn Glennie

Evelyn Glennie is probably the leading percussionist of our day—and she is profoundly deaf. Listening to her TED talk could be one of the best things you do with the next eighteen minutes: https://www.ted.com/talks/evelyn_glennie_shows_how_to_listen.

  2. Dear Pam,

Isn't she amazing? Also amazing: that you read Verlyn Klinkenborg! I just posted tonight something that involves him --I'd posted it briefly as part of another essay earlier this week but didn't think it fit quite right and took it down almost immediately.

But to come across Klinkenborg twice in one week is, to me, quite remarkable.

Thank you, as always, for being so thoughtful.

  3. For quite awhile I've had on my wish list, my list of things I want in my life, to have VK's job. I just love him! And yes, Evelyn is an inspiration. Thanks for posting her.

  4. You mean his job as a farmer, or his job at the NYT writing about being a farmer (and the occasional dead horseman)?

Both sound pretty good to me, though an unfortunate encounter with a cockroach this week made me question how suited I actually am to a life truly among my non-biped kin. Quadripeds I do fine with; it's more than four legs and I start having problems.
